Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Autism Base (1:1 Support)
Location: Secondary School, Barry Area
Hours: 08:15 am – 3:15 pm, Monday to Friday
Rate: £90 per day
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our specialised Autism Base within a welcoming secondary school in the Barry area. This is a full-time role working on a 1:1 basis with a Key Stage 3 pupil (aged 11-14) with complex needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with complex needs within a specialised Autism Base
Offer emotional and academic support, fostering a calm and nurturing learning environment
Assist with daily educational activities, ensuring the pupil’s needs are met sensitively and effectively
Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support the pupil’s development and progress
Person Specification:
Calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with pupils with ASD
High level of academic ability to support learning needs
Strong emotional intelligence and ability to offer consistent emotional support
Experience or interest in working within special educational needs (preferred but not essential)
