Teaching Assistant- Communication Provision Location: Communication Provision attached to a Primary School Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (Permanent opportunity for the right candidate) Pay: £94 -£104 per day Start Date: ASAP PK Education is excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join a specialist communication provision within a primary school. This role involves working full-time with primary-aged pupils who have autism and profound communication and language difficulties, most of whom are non-verbal. You will play a pivotal role in supporting their learning, communication, and social development. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism and communication/language difficulties Assist in developing and implementing individualised learning plans and interventions Support pupils in making progress in communication, social skills, and academic learning Use alternative communication methods such as AAC, Makaton, and PECS to help non-verbal pupils express themselves Collaborate with class teachers, speech and language therapists, and other professionals to create a positive learning environment Provide personal care and support as needed, ensuring pupils’ health, safety, and well-being Encourage social skill development, independence, and confidence, promoting an inclusive environment The Ideal Candidate: Experience working with children with autism or communication/language difficulties, ideally in a school or specialist setting Understanding of non-verbal communication and experience using Makaton, PECS, or AAC Patient, empathetic, and flexible, with a genuine passion for working with children with complex needs Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with professionals Positive, proactive attitude and adaptable to the individual needs of each pupil Background in education, child development, or a related field is desirable, though training and support will be provided Why Join Us?
