Role: 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant (Primary & Secondary)
Salary / Rate: £101.40 per day

We’re seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join one of our partner secondary schools, supporting students aged 11–16 with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a rewarding opportunity to positively impact young people’s educational and personal development.

We’re looking for caring and enthusiastic Social and Emotional Classroom Assistants to support pupils in Pontefract. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team and help young people aged 11–16 thrive, particularly those with SEND and SEMH needs.
You’ll play a vital role in creating a positive and nurturing environment, supporting students with their social and emotional development, and helping them build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (perfect for work-life balance!)

What we’re looking for:
* Experience working with children (professional or voluntary) – SEN/SEMH experience is a bonus but not essential!
* A positive, proactive, and empathetic attitude
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
* Two recent references (work or education-based)
Your role will involve:
* Supporting pupils with their social and emotional well-being in and out of the classroom
* Helping children build confidence, friendships, and independence
* Assisting teachers in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment
* Encouraging positive behaviour through patience, consistency, and care
* Celebrating every small achievement and being a positive role model
