Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)
Location: Oldham
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term
Salary: £90-£100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: December 2025

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a nurturing and inclusive school in Oldham that is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support four pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour - including two non-verbal students.
This is a full-time, long-term role starting in September 2025, with the aim of gradually transitioning pupils from part-time to full-time education.
About the Role:
Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs
Assist in delivering tailored learning and behaviour support strategies
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals to implement personalised learning plans
Help maintain a structured, calm, and supportive classroom environment
Encourage social, emotional, and academic development
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience supporting children with special educational needs and/or challenging behaviour
Confidence working with non-verbal pupils and familiarity with alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton - desirable)
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
A compassionate, resilient, and adaptable attitude
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
