EduTalent Group are proud to be supporting a forward-thinking school in East Sussex, seeking a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to work with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The successful candidate will play a key role in providing a nurturing, structured, and inclusive environment where pupils can thrive academically and emotionally. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and specialist teams to deliver tailored support and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support pupils with SEMH needs, promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
* Build strong, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and resilience.
* Work with individuals or small groups to deliver targeted educational and social development programmes.
* Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and learning resources.
* Contribute to Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and pupil progress reviews.
* Supervise pupils during lessons, enrichment activities, and break times to ensure safety and well-being.
* Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality at all times.
* Participate in team meetings, CPD, and whole-school training.
Requirements
Essential:
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs.
* Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
* Ability to build positive and supportive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
* Patience, empathy, and a flexible, solution-focused approach.
Desirable:
* Relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, HLTA, or equivalent).
* Team Teach or other behaviour support training.
* Experience working within specialist or inclusive education settings.
