TeacherActive is proud to be working with a fantastic independent SEND school in Maidstone, specialising in supporting students with Down’s syndrome and other learning differences. The school has a warm, family-like atmosphere and is dedicated to helping every child flourish both academically and personally.
The Headteacher is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant (TA) to join their team immediately. This role is a long-term position with the potential to become permanent for the right person.
Roles and Responsibilities:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ learning and well-being every day. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs
Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons
Encouraging students to develop confidence, independence, and communication skills
Supporting students with their social and emotional development
Helping to prepare learning materials and classroom resources
Providing personal care support where required (training provided if needed)
Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all pupils
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to support pupil progress
The successful Teaching Assistant will have:
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND (experience with Down’s syndrome desirable)
A nurturing, patient, and positive approach to learning
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for helping students reach their full potential
Relevant TA qualifications or transferable experience (desirable but not essential)
