The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support learners across KS3 and KS4, helping them build trust, regulate emotions, engage in learning and develop essential life skills. Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and the SENDCo, you will play a vital role in ensuring meaningful progress for pupils who may have faced previous barriers to education.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and SEND needs
*
Assist teachers in delivering engaging, accessible and differentiated lessons
*
Support students with literacy, numeracy, communication and emotional regulation
*
Promote a safe, stable and nurturing learning environment
*
Encourage resilience, confidence and independence
*
Support positive behaviour through relational and trauma-informed approaches
*
Help create resources and scaffolded learning tasks
*
Contribute to classroom organisation, displays and preparation
*
Assist with interventions, pastoral sessions and wellbeing activities
*
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo and behaviour support
*
Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures
Requirements
*
Experience supporting children or young people (school-based or transferable)
*
Passion for working with pupils with SEMH needs
*
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with learners
*
Understanding of emotional regulation and de-escalation (training provided)
*
Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
*
Strong communication and teamwork skills
*
GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)
*
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
Desirable:
Level 2/3 TA qualification
Experience in SEMH, SEND or alternative provision
Behaviour support experience
