Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support

Longford Park Primary School is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is central to our commitment to providing a nurturing, structured and inclusive environment where every child can achieve and feel successful.
Key Responsibilities
Provide targeted support for children with SEMH needs.
Assist with personalised support plans, behaviour strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
Work 1:1 or in small groups to develop social skills, communication and resilience.
Support positive behaviour through calm, consistent and restorative approaches.
Contribute to a safe and structured learning environment that promotes emotional wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, and external professionals.
Person Specification
Experience or interest in supporting SEMH pupils (training can be provided).
Strong emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A reflective, nurturing and child-centred approach.
