Here, every child matters. Every staff member matters. And every day matters. The Role As a Teaching Assistant at Nigel Bowes, you won’t just be supporting lessons—you’ll be supporting lives. You will: Work closely with pupils aged 5–11 who may display challenging behaviours linked to trauma, anxiety, or other SEMH needs. Support learning in and out of the classroom, both 1:1 and in small groups. Promote emotional regulation, positive routines, and resilience-building strategies. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure holistic and consistent support. Help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where pupils feel understood and empowered. Who We're Looking For We want real people with real passion. You must have experience in at least one of the following: Educational settings (mainstream or specialist) Youth work, mentoring, or community work Residential care or therapeutic support for children and young people with SEMH needs You’ll also bring: Empathy, patience, and emotional intelligence A calm and consistent approach to behaviour and boundaries Resilience in the face of challenge—and the ability to reflect, adapt, and grow A genuine commitment to inclusion, equity, and child-centred practice What We Offer A permanent role through our temp-to-perm route Supportive and experienced staff team Tailored CPD and training in trauma-informed practice, behaviour support, and more A chance to truly make a difference in children’s lives every single day All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
