Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Bournemouth

GSL Education are currently seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Bournemouth from September 2025. This rewarding role involves providing one-to-one support for a pupil with Down’s Syndrome, helping them to access learning and thrive in a nurturing classroom environment. The school offers a friendly and inclusive atmosphere where every child is valued and supported to succeed.
Applicants with experience working in a nursery, as a sports coach, or in any role involving children are warmly encouraged to apply. A school tour will be offered before the interview process begins, with interviews scheduled over the coming weeks.
Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:
Provide dedicated one-to-one support to a pupil with Down’s Syndrome within a primary classroom setting
Assist with daily routines, social interaction, and emotional support
Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement tailored learning strategies
Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil
Encourage independence, engagement, and confidence in learning
Monitor and report on progress and development to relevant staff
TA Requirements:
Experience working with children – nursery settings, sports coaching, or similar roles preferred
Previous experience working with children in a SEN setting is desirable.
CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or similar is desirable but not mandatory.
A patient, understanding, and flexible approach to individual learning needs
Excellent communication skills and a warm, encouraging nature
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one
