Do you have experience supporting children with Autism and a passion for helping young learners thrive?
GSL Education are delighted to offer a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant (TA) to support a pupil on a 1:1 basis at a welcoming mainstream primary school in Christchurch. Starting this September 2025, you’ll be working full-time with a Year 2 pupil on the Autistic Spectrum, helping them feel confident, included, and supported in their learning journey.
This is a fantastic chance to make a real difference in a child’s life while gaining valuable experience in a nurturing school environment.
Your Role and Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant (TA):
Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil in Year 2, adapting strategies to meet their individual needs.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere that encourages growth and independence.
Collaborate closely with class teachers and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans.
Promote emotional wellbeing and help manage behaviour in a calm and supportive manner.
Contribute to the wider school community and uphold safeguarding standards.
What We’re Looking in Teaching Assistant (TA):
Previous experience supporting children with Autism in an educational or care setting.
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting young learners.
A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps.
Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (or already registered on the update service).
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
