A bustling and creative 2-from entry school in Newham is looking for a strong, resilient teaching assistant to join their wonderful school.
The role:
The role will be to support a boy in year 1 with Autism. The student is non-verbal and can display challenging behaviour.
As a teaching assistant, you will:
Providing 1:1 support to the student with Autism
Help to implement the child's Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
Facilitate speech and language development
Work in collaboration with the class teacher and school SENCO to plan and implement activities and learning tasks
Assist the student with social interactions and building social skills
About you:
Will have experience supporting with Autism/special needs
Solid understanding of pre-verbal communication methods
Clear understanding of behaviour management techniques
Ability to take a "firm but fair" approach
Be kind, intuitive and be excited to make a positive impact on the life of a young child with Autism
