Teaching Assistant - Reception (ASD & Non-Verbal Support) Location: Saltley, Birmingham Position Type: Full-Time | Term Time Only (Monday to Friday, 8:30AM - 3:30PM) Start Date: September 2025 Pay Rate: Negotiable (Dependent on Experience) Contract Type: Long-Term, with potential to extend or become permanent Are you a nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of young children with additional needs? Prospero Teaching is recruiting two Teaching Assistants to join a supportive team in a Birmingham-based primary school. You will be working with a small group of Reception children (age 4-5) who have been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and non-verbal communication needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals committed to inclusive education and early years development. About the Role: · Support a team-based provision for six Reception children with ASD and non-verbal communication · Work closely with teachers, TAs, and therapists in a collaborative, child-centred setting · Use visuals, widgets, and alternative communication tools (e.g. PECS, Makaton) to support understanding and expression · Assist with personal care routines as needed (toileting, changing, feeding) · Promote independence, emotional security, and social development through structured and nurturing activities The Ideal Candidate Will Be: · Nurturing, calm, and patient, with a passion for supporting children with SEND · Experienced (or confident) working with children with ASD and non-verbal communication needs · Familiar with communication systems such as visual schedules, PECS, or Makaton · Comfortable providing personal care as part of the daily routine · A strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills Essential Requirements: · Right to Work in the UK · Relevant experience working with children in EYFS or SEND settings · A valid Enhanced Child Barred List DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one) · Two recent, child-related professional references (covering the last two years) To Apply: If you are ready to be part of a nurturing team that supports every child to flourish, we would love to hear from you.
