Teaching Assistant (SEMH – Long-Term Role)
Location: Hampstead, NW3
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Long-term placement
We are seeking a caring, resilient, and proactive Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 4 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Hampstead (NW3).
About the Role:
Provide consistent one-to-one support to help the pupil manage emotions, build confidence, and engage positively in learning.
Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to implement tailored strategies and interventions.
Support the child’s social and emotional development, promoting self-regulation and resilience.
Encourage participation in classroom activities and help maintain a calm, supportive learning environment.
Adapt approaches to suit the pupil’s individual needs, providing empathy, structure, and stability.
About You:
Experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs is essential.
Calm, patient, and understanding, with a positive and solution-focused approach.
Able to build strong, trusting relationships with children and staff.
Confident in using de-escalation strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
Committed, dependable, and enthusiastic about supporting every child to succeed.
