Teaching Assistant – Special Educational Needs (SEN) Schools Location: Southampton Contract: Full-time / Part-time Salary: £13.75 an hour We are seeking a dedicated and professional Teaching Assistant to join our Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools in Southampton. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the education and development of pupils with a variety of learning difficulties and disabilities. Key Responsibilities: Provide targeted support to pupils with SEN, assisting with learning activities tailored to individual needs Support the delivery of the curriculum under the guidance of the class teacher and SEN specialists Assist in the development of pupils’ communication, social, and emotional skills Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and families to ensure holistic support for pupils Candidate Requirements: Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is desirable Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable learners Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Flexible, reliable, and able to follow detailed instructions Benefits: A rewarding role within a supportive and professional working environment Opportunities for ongoing professional development and training Competitive salary commensurate with experience If you are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children with SEN and possess the skills and attributes outlined above, we welcome your application.
