Contract: Temporary to Permanent Opportunity
Pay: £517.20 per week (PAYE)
Hours:
🕒 Monday–Thursday: 8:15am – 4:30pm
🕒 Friday: 8:15am – 3:00pm
Location: Small Independent School, Newport
A small, supportive independent school in Newport is seeking a dedicated Sports-Focused Teaching Assistant to work with secondary-aged pupils who present with challenging behaviour.
This role is ideal for someone with a background in sports, coaching, or physical education, who understands how movement and structure can be powerful tools in supporting emotional and behavioural needs.
What the role involves:

Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour both in and out of the classroom

Using sport and physical activity to build engagement and positive relationships
*
Providing consistent, calm support as part of a small, experienced team
*
Encouraging routines, resilience, and a growth mindset in learners
What we're looking for:
✅ Experience working with young people, particularly those with additional or behavioural needs
✅ A strong interest or background in sport/physical activity
✅ Confidence, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
✅ A team player with a proactive and adaptable approach
