We are looking for a calm, patient and resilient SEN Support Assistant to work with Key Stage 1 pupils in a dedicated SEN provision within a mainstream primary school.
Role Overview:
Supporting pupils in KS1 who may present with challenging behaviour
Working in a structured SEN space alongside other experienced support staff
Supporting learning and emotional regulation in small groups or quiet settings
No personal care involved
Pupils are supported by multiple adults to help them build secure relationships and a consistent sense of safety
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience working with children with SEND and behavioural needs
Remain calm under pressure and use a nurturing, consistent approach
Be confident in supporting both 1:1 and small group sessions
Understand or be willing to learn positive behaviour support strategies
Work well as part of a wider team, valuing collaboration and consistency
Key Responsibilities:
Building trusting relationships with pupils and supporting them in line with their individual needs
Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Delivering and adapting learning tasks under the guidance of the class teacher or SEN lead
Assisting with transitions and managing sensory or emotional needs in a supportive way
