Job Description

Job Title: Teaching Assistant Tutor (Home based) Job Purpose The Teaching Assistant Skills Tutor is responsible for delivering high-quality, work-based teaching, learning, and assessment to learners undertaking Teaching Assistant qualifications and apprenticeships up to Level 5. The role supports learners in developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for excellence in teaching practice and leadership. The postholder provides professional guidance, assessment, and pastoral support to ensure timely completion, compliance, and high standards of learner welfare. Regular travel to teaching settings and employers’ premises is required. Key Responsibilities Teaching, Learning & Assessment * Deliver engaging and effective training and assessment sessions across Levels 3–5 in Teaching Assistant. * Plan and implement high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment tailored to individual learners and employer needs. * Conduct workplace observations, professional discussions, and evidence-based assessments in line with awarding body standards. * Provide feedback that is constructive, motivating, and developmental. * Prepare learners for End Point Assessment (EPA) and support confidence in professional practice. * Embed key industry frameworks and best practices. Learner Progress & Support * Manage a caseload of learners, ensuring they are supported, motivated, and progressing as planned. * Conduct regular reviews with learners and employers to set clear, achievable targets for success. * Identify and address learning barriers promptly, referring to additional support services as required. * Promote reflective practice, personal development, and continued professional growth among learners. Quality, Compliance & Reporting * Maintain accurate, up-to-date learner records, progress reviews, and assessment documentation using relevant MIS and e-portfolio systems. * Ensure assessment decisions meet awarding body and internal quality assurance standards. * Participate in standardisation, internal verification, and moderation processes. * Ensure compliance with funding rules, regulatory frameworks (e.g., Ofsted EIF), and organisational policies. * Support quality assurance and audit activities through accurate documentation and communication. Employer Engagement * Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, ensuring training aligns with workplace needs. * Communicate regularly with managers and mentors to ensure learners are supported in the workplace. * Promote professional values, care, and continuous improvement in all partnerships. Safeguarding, Prevent & Equality * Promote safeguarding, Prevent Duty, British Values, and equality and diversity in all delivery and communication. * Remain alert to signs of abuse, neglect, or wellbeing concerns during site visits, and report concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. * Ensure workplace visits are conducted safely and learner environments meet health, safety, and safeguarding requirements. * Serve as a role model of professional conduct, empathy, and inclusion within the care sector. Key Performance Indicators * Learner retention, achievement, and timely success rates * EPA outcomes and feedback from learners and employers * Quality assurance outcomes (internal and external audits) * Accuracy and timeliness of learner records and compliance documentation * Employer and learner satisfaction * Engagement with CPD and sector updates
