Teaching Assistant - Year 5 Location: Rugby, CV22 Weekly Pay: £460 - £500 Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm (term-time only) Start Date: ASAP Contract: Long-term, Temp-to-Perm Be the difference in a child's journey to confidence, engagement and success. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Rugby as a Year 5 Teaching Assistant, providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs, while also contributing to general classroom support. You'll play a key role in supporting the child's social, emotional and mental health, helping them access learning, manage behaviour and build confidence. Using structured strategies, positive reinforcement and tailored interventions, you'll help the pupil feel secure, engaged and included. Alongside this 1:1 focus, you'll assist the class teacher with classroom activities, promoting a positive and productive learning environment for all Year 5 pupils. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 SEMH support to a pupil, using personalised strategies to support emotional regulation, social interaction, and engagement with learning. Assist the class teacher with classroom activities, offering support to small groups or the wider Year 5 class as required. Promote positive behaviour and resilience through consistent routines, encouragement, and modelling appropriate social skills. Liaise with the class teacher, SENCo, and parents to share observations, adapt approaches, and monitor progress. Support inclusion by helping the pupil participate in group activities and interact with peers. Contribute to classroom organisation and preparation to ensure smooth daily operations.Candidate Requirements: Experience & Qualifications: Level 2/3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) with experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs. Skills & Knowledge: Confident using strategies to support SEMH, including emotional regulation, positive behaviour management, and structured learning approaches.
