Teaching Assistant - Year 5 SEMH Support Location: Rubery, Birmingham, B45 Weekly Rate: £460 - £500 per week Start Date: ASAP Hours: Full Time - 8:30am to 3:30pm (Term Time Only) Contract: Long Term with potential for Permanent Long Term Futures are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Rubery (B45) who are seeking a General Classroom Teaching Assistant to join their Year 5 team. The role involves supporting a small group of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, while also assisting across the wider classroom. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone confident, patient, and resilient who enjoys helping children develop both academically and emotionally. The school has a caring ethos and values staff who can bring positivity, structure, and consistency to the classroom. The Role: Provide focused support to a small group of Year 5 pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs Work closely with the class teacher to implement behaviour strategies and support learning Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and teamwork within the group Deliver targeted learning breaks and interventions to help pupils self-regulate Support whole-class activities and ensure all pupils can access learning Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment The Ideal Candidate: Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or challenging behaviour Confident, empathetic, and able to build strong relationships with pupils Resilient, proactive, and adaptable within a classroom setting Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) preferred Must hold a valid DBS and provide two satisfactory references About the School: Warm and supportive primary school rated 'Good' by Ofsted Strong focus on emotional wellbeing and inclusive education Experienced leadership and SEN teams providing guidance and training Positive, team-focused staff community Easily accessible location in Rubery with on-site parking If you're a patient, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with additional needs, we'd love to hear from you.
