Teaching Assistant – Secondary (Mainstream & ASD) – Burry Port

Flexible Hours • Training Provided • Supply Work via Teaching Personnel

Pay: £92–£110 per day
Location: Burry Port & surrounding areas (Carmarthenshire)

Teaching Personnel are seeking committed Teaching Assistants to work across mainstream and ASD specialist provisions within a welcoming coastal secondary school environment in Burry Port.

This role is perfect for graduates, aspiring teachers, and anyone with a strong interest in supporting learners with diverse needs.

About the School Environment 

You’ll be working within a well‑established 11–16 secondary setting known for its strong community ethos, high‑quality teaching, and excellent pastoral support. The school fosters a family spirit and prioritises pupil wellbeing and guidance. 

There is also a specialist ASD provision on site, which is expanding significantly over the coming years to meet growing local demand. Capacity is planned to increase from around 30 places to 65 by 2029, with ongoing support for learners with additional needs being a key priority in the area. 

What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting pupils across mainstream classes
Working within ASD-specific groups or centres (depending on placement)
Assisting teachers with lesson delivery, behaviour support, and learning activities
Encouraging positive engagement and independence in pupils
Adapting support to meet a range of additional learning needs

Requirements

Ability to travel to Burry Port and surrounding Carmarthenshire areas (driving recommended)
A positive, proactive approach to supporting young people
Experience with children (desirable but not essential)
Welsh language skills are a bonus
A genuine interest in education, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing

Pay & Work Availability

£92–£110 per day, dependent on role and responsibilities
This is supply‑based work, meaning hours may vary and work is not guaranteed, but regular opportunities are available based on school needs and your flexibility.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
