Job Description

About this Role The Team Leader is principally responsible for the management of a team of Scientists of varying experience that perform analysis in a particular area of testing. The job holder will maintain and build a strong team. Having a strong understanding of the relevant regulatory requirements, the job holder will liaise with internal and external clients to deliver results in a timely manner in line with expectations. Working as part of the management team they will drive the ethos and working practices within the laboratory. As a key member of the Operations team, they will help to develop consistent and robust analytical practices that can be reliably used for analytical testing. The Team Leader will work closely with the Management team to ensure analytical data is recorded and reported in an accurate and consistent manner over the entire data lifecycle. This will include effective investigational support to identify root cause, contributing factors and where necessary, escalation to corrective and preventive action plans. Responsibilities / Objectives To provide leadership and direction to the Scientists within their team to create a strong, scientifically knowledgeable and confident team. To liaise with other Team Leaders to ensure a smooth transition of all work through the department. Ensure that the operational activities are efficient and quality compliant and that all team members are suitably trained. Create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort. Lead by example; motivate and inspire team members to deliver exceptional performance. Co-ordinate testing by liaising with clients, writing and reviewing technical documents, executing test plans, and generating certificates of analysis. Manage the testing schedule within the team to ensure competent and timely completion of projects while working with colleagues and managers to obtain the necessary resources to support the team’s requirements. Qualifications and Education Requirements Graduate of chemistry or analytical chemistry-related subject plus minimum 5 years of relevant working in a regulated analytical laboratory. OR Minimum 9 years relevant laboratory experience.
