Team Leader –Wakefield Mail Hub 📍 Location: Normanton, Wakefield 📄 Contract Type:  ongoing 🕒 Hours: Monday to Friday various shifts 💷 Pay: will vary depending on shift About the Role Pertemps is recruiting enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join Wakefield Mail Centre as Team Leaders. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment supporting one of the UK’s most iconic delivery services. Core Duties and Responsibilities As a Team Leader in our Logistics Mail Centre, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of daily operations. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and motivating a team to achieve performance targets for mail sorting, processing, and dispatch. Overseeing daily hub operations, ensuring all incoming and outgoing mail is handled accurately and on time. Allocating workloads and monitoring performance, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety standards are consistently met. Supporting staff development through on-the-job training, coaching, and performance feedback. Maintaining compliance with health and safety policies, operational procedures, and company standards. Monitoring mail flow and resolving operational issues quickly to prevent delays or service failures. Coordinating with transport teams to ensure timely dispatch and delivery schedules are maintained. Recording and reporting key performance metrics such as throughput, accuracy, and attendance. Promoting a positive team culture that encourages collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Acting as the main point of contact for management and other depWe’re looking for an experienced and hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced warehouse environment and knows how to get the best out of their team. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and passionate about operational excellence. You’ll have: Proven experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop others. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. A solid understanding of warehouse operations, including goods-in/goods-out, stock control, and dispatch. Good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety. The ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a busy operational setting. Confidence using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other digital tools. A positive, can-do attitude with a focus on teamwork and continuous improvement.Desirable: Experience in lean processes or continuous improvement initiatives.
