Team Manager - Kinship Team | Cheshire East Council | Location: Cheshire East (Hybrid Working Available) Contract Type: Interim | Full-time About the Role Cheshire East Council is seeking an experienced Team Manager to lead the Kinship Team within Children's Social Care. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader with strong knowledge of Regulation 24 placements, Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs), and Kinship Assessments to manage and develop a dedicated team supporting children and families across the region. The successful candidate will provide operational leadership, supervision, and quality assurance to ensure all assessments and reviews meet statutory standards and deliver positive outcomes for children in kinship care. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage, and support the Kinship Team, ensuring high-quality social work practice and adherence to statutory guidance. Provide supervision, guidance, and performance management to social workers and assessing officers. Oversee and quality assure Regulation 24 assessments, SGO assessments, and review documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy. Ensure all kinship and connected persons' placements are compliant with legal and safeguarding frameworks. Support and develop staff through coaching, reflective supervision, and identifying training needs. Work collaboratively with fostering, adoption, and child protection teams to ensure joined-up service delivery. Monitor workloads, manage performance indicators, and contribute to service improvement initiatives. Essential Requirements Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England. Proven management or senior supervisory experience within Children's Services. Extensive knowledge of Kinship Care, Regulation 24, Special Guardianship, and connected persons assessments. Demonstrable ability to quality assure complex assessments and provide effective professional oversight. Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures.
