Technical Assistant - Hull Are you the kind of person who enjoys getting stuck into the detail—making sure things run smoothly, problems are spotted early, and standards are upheld? If so, we’d love to hear from you. Vuba Surfaces is looking for a Technical Assistant to support our technical team on-site in Hull, helping turn processes into measurable results and keeping our production moving with confidence. Why this role matters Great products don’t happen by accident. They’re built on consistent processes, accurate checks, clear documentation, and continuous improvement. As a Technical Assistant, you’ll be a key part of that foundation—supporting the technical function behind the scenes so quality and performance stay on track. This is a role for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys a hands-on environment, and is comfortable working with data, equipment, and people. You’ll help the team maintain high standards while learning from professionals who care deeply about quality and precision. What you’ll be doing * Supporting technical processes across production and operational areas—helping ensure procedures are followed and results are reliable. * Carrying out checks and basic tests under guidance, recording outcomes accurately and escalating issues when anything falls outside expected parameters. * Maintaining documentation including records, logs, and reports—ensuring information is complete, legible, and up to date. * Assisting with troubleshooting by gathering relevant information, observing trends, and supporting root cause investigations. * Helping to manage technical workstreams by supporting daily tasks, preparing materials, and keeping the technical area organised and audit-ready. * Monitoring quality and compliance by following established standards and identifying potential risks or recurring defects. * Collaborating with production and quality teams to ensure smooth handovers and clear communication on technical requirements. * Contributing to continuous improvement—bringing ideas forward, testing minor improvements, and learning how changes impact outcomes. Who you are You don’t need to be the finished article to be successful—but you do need a strong attitude towards accuracy, learning, and follow-through. Ideally, you’ll have experience in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, or quality-related environment, or you’ll be eager to step into one. * You have a practical, hands-on approach and you’re comfortable working in a production setting. * You understand the value of processes, records, and attention to detail—and you take pride in getting it right. * You’re confident with basic data handling, reporting, and using tools such as spreadsheets or documentation systems. * You communicate clearly—able to explain what you’ve done, what you found, and what needs attention next. * You’re reliable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn quickly on the job. * You bring curiosity: when something doesn’t look right, you don’t shrug—you ask, check, and investigate. What we’re looking for (essential) * Strong literacy and numeracy skills for accurate recording and reporting. * Ability to follow written procedures and work to defined standards. * Comfort working with technical tasks under supervision and within established guidelines. * Willingness to support team requirements across shifts or changing priorities (where applicable). What would be a bonus * Experience in manufacturing, quality, laboratory, or technical support roles. * Knowledge of quality standards (or a genuine interest in learning). * Experience using measurement tools, test equipment, or working with technical documentation. * Some exposure to continuous improvement approaches such as root cause analysis or basic problem-solving frameworks. The sort of environment you’ll join Based on the Marina in Hull, Vuba is the kind of business that’s building momentum—fast. The atmosphere is energised and collaborative, with a clear focus on delivering quality consistently. You’ll work alongside people who care about performance, take ownership of outcomes, and welcome improvement ideas from across the team. Even though this is a technical role, it’s not about standing alone at a desk. You’ll be moving between responsibilities—supporting checks, keeping records tidy, assisting with investigations, and working closely with those closest to the work. Training and progression If you’re motivated and keen to learn, this role can be a strong stepping-stone into deeper technical and quality responsibilities. You’ll be supported with guidance and training as you grow into the position—building capability through real tasks, real equipment, and real problem-solving.
