Technical Author - Nuclear Sector
Location: Kent (On-site, full-time, 4-day week)
Contract: 24 months, IR35 Inside
Pay Rate: Competitive
Role Overview:
Join a high-profile nuclear project team to produce clear, accurate, and compliant technical documentation supporting the design, construction, and operation of nuclear and radiation process systems. You will write and maintain engineering procedures, reports, and CDM Health & Safety files, ensuring alignment with design authority standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain technical documents including operating procedures, safety reports, and CDM H&S files.
Gather and interpret engineering inputs from project teams to produce fit-for-purpose documentation.
Support project execution planning with clear documentation of design, commissioning, and safety strategies.
Review and approve technical specifications and contractor documentation (work instructions, method statements, risk assessments).
Ensure all documents comply with company standards, regulatory frameworks, and configuration control procedures.
Collaborate with engineers, contractors, clients, and SMEs to understand project needs and translate technical data into accessible documentation.
Essential Criteria:
Proven mechanical engineering experience on industrial plants, preferably with nuclear or conventional project exposure.
Strong understanding of engineering standards and CDM regulations.
Skilled at researching, interpreting, and writing technical content based on engineering inputs.
Proficient with Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, and 3D CAD software.
Excellent communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Relevant qualification: HNC, Degree, or NQF Level 5/6 in engineering or a related discipline.
Desirable:
Knowledge of Site Licence and Quality Management System requirements.
Experience in contract management and project delivery.
