Job Description
Are you a skilled Technical Author with a passion for precision and clarity? Join a leading defence engineering organisation and play a key role in delivering high-quality technical documentation that supports the safe operation and maintenance of cutting-edge equipment.
What You'll Do
Produce and amend technical documentation in SGML/XML formats (S1000D-compliant)
Work across the full product lifecycle - from design to in-service support
Collaborate with engineering teams (ILS, LSA, Commercial) to gather and translate complex technical data
Apply Simplified Technical English (STE) and author in Data Module format
Use tools like Arbortext Editor, FrameMaker, and CSDB systems
What You'll Bring
Proven experience in technical authorship within Defence, Aerospace, Automotive, or Heavy Industry
Strong knowledge of MoD standards (ASD S1000D, AESP)
Proficiency with SGML/XML editing tools and desktop publishing systems
HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (Degree desirable)
Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects independently
