Quality and Technical Manager
Overview:
Recruitment Unlimited (SW) Ltd is recruiting for an experienced Quality and Technical Manager on behalf of a successful bakery and snack food manufacturer in Mid Devon.
As the Quality and Technical Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all quality and technical systems across the business. This role involves incorporating quality standards into the daily operation, ensuring that all products consistently meet customer, legal, and safety expectations.
You will be expected to work closely with the Operations Director and be a key part of the leadership team. This is a hands-on role requiring a daily presence in both production and warehouse areas.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and maintain the site’s Quality Management System
* Lead and update HACCP plans and food safety procedures
* Act as main contact for all technical matters with customers and suppliers
* Investigate customer complaints and lead corrective actions
* Support new and existing product development (NPD/EPD)
* Organise product and site testing, including shelf-life validation
* Oversee customer and external audits
* Maintain up-to-date specifications for ingredients and finished products
* Check and approve packaging, labels, and artwork for legal compliance
* Promote improvements in efficiency, waste reduction and systems
* Be an active member of the Health & Safety team
* Support production quality checks and daily compliance on site
Requirements:
* Experience in a technical or quality role within food manufacturing
* Strong knowledge of food safety standards and legislation
* Confident with BRC and HACCP systems
* Experience with audits (internal, customer and third-party)
* Excellent attention to detail
* Strong communication and leadership skills
* Hands-on and proactive – happy to be on the factory floor daily
* Good organisation and problem-solving skills

* Based in Mid Devon
* Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
