Job Description

Are you passionate about product quality, food safety, and continuous improvement? We're looking for an experienced Technical Manager to play a pivotal role in our Technical team, ensuring compliance, driving standards, and supporting customer excellence across fresh produce and food manufacturing operations. This role is perfect for someone with technical management within the fresh produce/food industry who's ready to take on a wider role, liaising with suppliers, supporting audits, and contributing to innovation projects. What You'll Be Doing You'll be responsible for ensuring technical standards are maintained across site and supplier networks, including customer-facing activity: Maintain, uphold, and ensure adherence to HACCP, Business Management and Food Safety Systems on site. Be the key contact for BRC and customer audits, ensuring an audit-ready culture. Build and sustain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. Develop corrective and preventative actions following internal and third-party audits. Lead and support the QA team to carry out scheduled routines, manage staffing levels and reduce absenteeism. Continuously improve quality standards and drive operational yield gains. Monitor and report on Technical & Quality KPIs, including: Customer complaints Microbiological standards (product & environmental) Shelf life and product waste Pesticide residue analysis Pest control Stay up to date with regulatory and industry changes, ensuring all records and documentation are compliant. Contribute to new product and process development, ensuring technical tasks are completed to customer standards. Support innovation, trialling new varieties and packaging formats. Develop and share Technical Improvement Plans internally and with suppliers, reporting results to the customer.About You Essential: Proven experience in Technical, QA or Compliance roles within food manufacturing or fresh produce. Ideally, 5 years' experience within food / fresh produce Strong working knowledge of HACCP, food safety and quality systems. Experience working with customers and growers Micro knowledge Confident communicator with good stakeholder engagement skills. Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel and document control systems.
