Technical & Compliance Manager
📍 Location: Near Trowbridge, UK
💼 Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience)

Are you a detail-driven professional with a passion for food safety, compliance, and quality assurance? We're looking for a Technical & Compliance Manager to take ownership of our technical systems and ensure our products meet the highest standards of safety, legality, and authenticity. This is a key leadership role based in our office near Trowbridge, not on the factory floor.
What You'll Be Doing:
You'll lead the charge in maintaining compliance across our operations, managing audits, systems, and supplier relationships. Your responsibilities will include:
✅ HACCP Oversight: Maintain and audit our HACCP food safety system to ensure full compliance with legislation and standards.
🏅 Audit Leadership: Lead all external certification audits (BRC, MSC, Global GAP) and manage our internal audit programme.
🤝 Customer & Supplier Assurance: Conduct customer-led audits and ensure suppliers meet technical and compliance requirements.
📋 Quality Management System: Maintain and continuously improve our QMS, ensuring policies and procedures are up to date and effective.
🗂️ Supplier Accreditation: Manage the approved supplier database and ensure all certifications are current.
📑 Product Specifications: Oversee the specification database, ensuring all specs meet UK legislative requirements.
🧪 Product Assurance: Ensure regular testing and inspection of products for compliance.
🎨 Packaging Compliance: Review all packaging and artwork to ensure it meets UK legal standards.
♻️ Environmental Reporting: Submit packaging waste data and plastic packaging tax returns in line with EPR legislation.
🔍 Traceability Studies: Lead full traceability exercises from raw materials to finished products.
🧠 Technical Support: Support Procurement with technical input for new product development and customer tenders.
📊 Performance & ESG Reporting: Track KPIs, manage complaints, and report on ESG metrics for senior leadership.
🦺 Health & Safety: Ensure full compliance with current H&S legislation.
🎓 Training & Team Leadership: Deliver technical training and manage a small team of two part-time technical administrators.What We're Looking For:
✅ Proven experience in a technical or compliance role within the food industry.
📚 Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRC, MSC, and Global GAP standards.
🧠 Experience managing QMS and compliance databases.
🗣️ Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
