Technical Manager – High-Rise Residential
Location: Gravesend (Office-based, 5 days per week)
Salary: £70,000 – £85,000 + package (including excellent bonus scheme)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager / Technical Coordinator to join a main contractor with a strong pipeline of high-rise residential projects. This is a key opportunity to be part of a growing business within an established group, offering real career progression and a highly competitive bonus structure.
The Role
As Technical Manager, you will take ownership of design management and technical coordination from planning approval through to project completion. You will be responsible for ensuring design compliance, buildability, and efficiency across multiple projects, working closely with external consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage design coordination for high-rise residential projects
* Ensure full compliance with building regulations and technical standards
* Oversee design programmes, coordinating with procurement and operations teams
* Review consultant and subcontractor designs, driving value engineering opportunities
* Chair design team meetings, ensuring effective collaboration and technical excellence
* Manage statutory approvals, planning condition discharges, and building regulation requirements
* Deliver innovative and efficient design solutions that add value across projects
Requirements:
* Degree or Higher Diploma in Architecture, Engineering, or related discipline
* 5+ years’ post-qualification experience with a main contractor or developer
* Strong technical knowledge of high-rise residential design and detailing
* In-depth understanding of UK building regulations and construction standards
* Proven ability to manage demanding design programmes and multiple projects simultaneously
* Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills
