Technical Officer - Environmental Protection
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Technical Officer - Environmental Protection to join a forward-thinking Regulatory Services team in Newcastle-under-Lyme. This position offers the chance to lead a highly skilled team delivering a wide range of statutory environmental functions, including air quality, pollution control, statutory nuisance, and contaminated land.
As Technical Officer- Environmental Protection, you will provide technical support within the Environmental Protection Team of Regulatory Services, including undertaking inspections, investigations and appropriate follow up actions including advice, support and enforcement action.
The main duties of the Technical Officer - Environmental Protection are:
To be responsible for the efficient execution of one or more of the range of duties reasonably expected of, and commensurate with the professional competence of a Technical Assistant. The range of duties include:
·Contaminated land;
·Air quality;
·Private water supply regulation;
·Regulation of industrial processes;
·Statutory Nuisance complaints and pollution derived anti-social behaviour;
·Provision of professional advice to planning and licensing teams.
The Technical Officer - Environmental Protection will have key experience in:
1.
To prepare or assist in the preparation of, such material as is necessary for talks, lectures or presentations (for use inside the Council or to external bodies) and if required participate in the presentation of these activities.
2.
To prepare evidence, legal case files and attend court, tribunals, appeals and hearings to present the council's evidence
