Job Description
Technical Sales Assistant – Ship Chandlery
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Sales Assistant to join our Ship Chandlery team. In this role, you will support the sales function by providing product knowledge, preparing quotes, liaising with clients, and ensuring timely delivery of marine supplies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Office. A background in technical sales and marine equipment would be preferable but not necessary as full training will be provided. Excellent communication and organizational skills would be required.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist the sales team in processing customer inquiries and preparing technical quotations.
· Provide advice and information on a wide range of marine products, including deck, engine, electrical, and safety supplies.
· Communicate with ship crews, purchasing managers, and ship agents to determine customer requirements.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ship chandlery products and technical specifications.
· Coordinate with suppliers to source specific items and ensure competitive pricing.
· Process sales orders and manage inventory levels for key product lines.
· Assist with deliveries and logistics planning to ensure timely fulfilment of customer orders.
· Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and transactions using internal systems.
· Support internal reporting, pricing updates, and product database maintenance.
· Handle occasional out-of-hours inquiries to support vessel turnarounds.
Key Requirements:
· Prior experience in ship chandlery, maritime logistics, or technical sales is preferred.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and sales/order management software (e.g., ERP systems).
· Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Team-oriented with a proactive and customer-focused attitude.
· Valid driver’s license may be required, preferably a Class C, HGV license.
