Salary: up to £70,000 (if all requirements are met) + car allowance £5,200 + bonus + pension + benefits
Overview
Our client is looking for experienced Technical Managers with either an Electrical, Ventilation, or Mechanical bias to join their team. These roles are critical in ensuring statutory and contractual compliance across complex healthcare assets, while driving proactive, cost-effective maintenance strategies that extend asset lifecycles and support excellence in patient care.
Key Responsibilities
As a Technical Manager, you will take responsibility for the technical performance and maintenance standards within your area of expertise, while also supporting the wider M&E services. You will provide guidance to the site team, act as a subject matter expert, and ensure third-party delivery meets contractual standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead on technical issues within your bias (Electrical, Ventilation, or Mechanical) while supporting other engineering disciplines where required.
Investigate and manage all claims of defect or asset failure.
Work with operational leads to drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
Contribute to contract financial performance, with a focus on efficiency and subcontractor management.
Oversee compliance with statutory, client and company procedures.
Manage planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring quality standards are met.
Support lifecycle replacement planning, including scope, risk, budgets, and timelines.
Produce surveys, technical reports, and condition assessments as required.
Ensure record drawings and O&M manuals are kept up to date and to the correct standard.
Represent the business in technical and safety groups.
Undertake (or train towards) Authorised Person (AP) duties, such as Electrical Systems (HV/LV), Ventilation, Pressure Systems, and Medical Gases.
Develop effective working relationships with stakeholders, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Provide technical support to the wider team and act as a role model for safe, compliant, and customer-focused delivery.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree / HNC / HND in an engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in a technical management role (essential).
Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical reporting.
Background in Mechanical & Electrical building services.
Health & Safety awareness (IOSH Managing Safely or similar desirable).
FM or PFI contract experience in healthcare or hospital environments (desirable).
Bias-specific requirements:
Electrical: Electrical engineering background, ideally holding (or willing to obtain) HV/LV AP appointments.
Ventilation: Experience as a Ventilation AP in healthcare, with a full understanding of HTM 03-01.
Mechanical: Strong background in mechanical and pressure systems, ideally with healthcare or hospital FM exposure.
