Technician in Carpentry & Joinery
To provide technical support across the curriculum area of the school of Construction & Built Environment (in Carpentry & Joinery)
This is a temporary position for 30 hours per week, based in Newtown
Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
· To be responsible for maintaining an appropriate practical working environment for teaching and learning;
· To prepare materials, tools and equipment for use
· To check, maintain and where possible repair equipment
· To maintain a clean, safe and well-organised environment in the workshop
· To maintain stock levels and provide accurate and current inventories of, tools, equipment and materials
· To assist in supervising learners within the workshop
· To help organise the issue and return of tools, equipment and materials to users
· To participate in risk assessments of practical activities.
Candidates should hold a level 2 qualification in a relevant discipline, level 2 qualifications in both English and Maths (GSCE or equivalent) and be IT literate to level 2. Candidates should also have relevant experience. The ability to operate and maintain machinery equipment and a knowledge of Health and Safety requirements are essential.
