Service Operations Engineer – South Wales

We’re growing our Service Operations team and are looking for experienced fibre engineers to join our install crews across South Wales. You'll be based in our East patch and play a key role in delivering high-quality fibre installations to customers.
About you…
This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to someone with a strong background in fibre installation and a passion for delivering excellent customer service. You’ll be confident working independently, solving problems on the go, and ensuring every install is completed to the highest standard.
We’re looking for people with experience across a range of skill levels who bring a proactive, safety-first mindset and a solid understanding of fibre networks.
You’ll need:
* Proven experience with fibre installation
* Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
* A proactive attitude to resolving engineering challenges
* Flexibility to work outside core hours when needed
* A good understanding of Health & Safety practices
* Any Familiarity with BT Openreach and PIA networks
* The ability to read and interpret network build plans (ducts and poles)
* Awareness of COSHH and environmental standards
You’ll stand out if you hold any of the following certifications:
* NRSWA – Unit 2 (Signing, Lighting & Guarding)
* SA001 (Overhead Safety) & SA002 (Underground Safety)
* IPAF
* S7 PIA Sub Duct and Cable Installation (Underground)
* S8 PIA Cable Installation (Overhead)
* N28

What you’ll be doing…
As a Service Operation Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality fibre installations directly to our customers, both residential and business. You’ll be the face of Ogi on the ground, ensuring every install is completed safely, efficiently, and with a focus on customer satisfaction.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same; responsibilities will include -
* Install fibre broadband services in customer premises, ensuring a clean, professional setup that meets technical standards and leaves the customer confident in their new connection.
* Carry out both underground and overhead installations, working with ducts, poles, and internal cabling. You’ll be comfortable working at height and in confined spaces, always putting safety first.
* Perform daily checks on your vehicle, tools, and PPE before leaving the depot, making sure everything is in top condition and ready for the day ahead.
* Complete job-specific risk assessments and method statements, reporting any Health & Safety incidents or near misses. You’ll play a key role in maintaining a safe working environment for yourself, your team, and the public.
* Support small civils works such as digging, duct clearing, and reinstatement, helping to prepare sites for successful installations and ensuring everything is left neat and compliant.
* Engage with customers to explain the work being done, demonstrate how to use their new broadband and Wi-Fi equipment, and ensure they’re happy with the service before you leave.
* Keep accurate records of your work, including job updates, stock usage, and any issues encountered. You’ll work closely with your supervisor and the wider engineering team to ensure smooth coordination and high-quality delivery.
