Long-term role • Sole telehandler driver • Weekly pay • Clean, well-managed site
We are recruiting a reliable and experienced Telehandler Operator for a new phase of a major new-build housing development in Herne Bay. This is a stable, long-term role lasting at least 12 months, offering consistent hours and a supportive site team.
The Role
You will be the sole telehandler operator for the entire phase, carrying out all lifting operations, material movement, housekeeping support, waste control, and basic machine upkeep. The site is well-organised and expects high standards, making this role ideal for someone who takes pride in their work and prefers structured, consistent duties.
Key Responsibilities
You will operate the telehandler safely across a live new-build site, including working with underslung loads and managing all materials around the development. This includes keeping plots, pathways, and storage areas tidy, returning empty pallets and unused materials to stores, and ensuring subcontractors segregate their waste correctly.
You will be responsible for moving segregated waste into the correct skips, maintaining a clean waste compound, carrying out basic machine maintenance such as greasing, cleaning, and daily checks, and reporting any defects or mechanical issues promptly to the Site Manager.
As the only forklift driver on this phase, you must work proactively and independently throughout the day.
Telehandler Monitoring System
The telehandler is fitted with an onboard safety monitoring system that records speed, seatbelt usage, hours operated, load weights, and general safety compliance. This is reviewed regularly to ensure safe and responsible machine use.

Experience on new-build housing developments.

You will be paid for 9 hours per day. Start times fall between 7:30 and 8:00, with the exact time confirmed by the Site Manager. The role runs Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend working depending on site requirements.
