Job Description

As the TWC, you will be the central point of contact for all temporary works on site. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that all temporary structures-such as falsework, formwork, scaffolding, propping, and excavations-are designed, installed, used, and dismantled safely and in full compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and project procedures. You'll work closely with engineers, site managers, and subcontractors to manage the entire process, from design brief to final removal. Key Responsibilities Coordination & Management: Act as the designated person on site for the coordination of all temporary works. This includes managing the design, checking, and approval process. Design & Checking: Ensure that all temporary works are supported by an adequate design, appropriate design checks, and a temporary works design certificate. You will be responsible for issuing these certificates. Safety & Compliance: Implement and monitor compliance with the project's temporary works procedures, ensuring all works are conducted safely and in line with CDM regulations and industry best practices. Risk Management: Identify and manage risks associated with temporary works, including ground conditions, adjacent structures, and environmental factors specific to the project. Liaison: Serve as the liaison between the site team, permanent works designers, subcontractors, and the temporary works designers. Record Keeping: Maintain a comprehensive register of all temporary works on site, including design drawings, calculations, certificates, and inspection records. Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections to ensure temporary works are installed and maintained correctly and are being used as intended by the designer. Required Qualifications & Experience Experience: Proven experience in a similar role on large-scale civil engineering or construction projects, ideally with some exposure to environmentally sensitive projects or specialised structures. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of engineering principles related to temporary works, including propping, falsework, scaffolding, earthworks, and formwork. Certification: Hold a relevant Temporary Works Coordinator training certificate Skills: Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills. You must be able to work collaboratively with a diverse team and enforce high safety standards. Safety Mindset: A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental protection. Education: A degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred, but not essential with relevant experience.
