I’m currently supporting a well-established electronics manufacturing company in Stevenage, recognised for supplying high-quality PCB assemblies and complete electronic solutions across a range of regulated industries.
Test Engineer
The Test Engineer is responsible for testing and fault-finding electronic PCB assemblies and completed units down to component level. This role ensures products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards while supporting continuous improvement of test capability, equipment, and processes.
Working within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment, the Test Engineer plays a key role in diagnosing failures, improving test robustness, and ensuring products are released right first time.
Key Responsibilities
Test and fault-find PCBs and electronic units to component level on both digital and analogue boards.
Use computer-based and automated test programs to support testing activities.
Inspect boards against production drawings and documentation.
Use schematic diagrams to diagnose and isolate faults.
Provide detailed test feedback, reports, and data to support trend analysis and corrective actions.
Ensure engineering changes are implemented correctly and in line with production requirements.
Maintain test equipment, jigs, and fixtures—ensuring all remain calibrated, functional, and compliant.
Operate ATE and Flying Probe test equipment.
Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, frequency counters, power supplies, and other test instruments.
Work in compliance with ISO 9001:2015, AS9100 Rev D, and company quality standards.
Follow company environmental policies and procedures.
Carry out additional duties as reasonably requested by management.Skills & Experience
Essential
Minimum 5 years’ experience in electronics test and fault-finding to component level.
Strong experience using test equipment: oscilloscopes, PSUs, multimeters, signal generators etc.
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and production drawings.
Experience using MATLAB and LabVIEW for test development, automation, or data analysis.
GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English, Maths & Science.
HNC/BTEC Level 3 in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
Strong communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamworking skills.Desirable
Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
Experience with high-voltage testing.
Flying Probe experience.
