Cloth Room Operative (Days)
Wetherby, West Yorkshire
Hours: 7:00am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour (reviewed after 3-month probation)
About the Role
We’re supporting a leading technical textile manufacturer in Wetherby with the recruitment of a Cloth Room Operative to join their busy inspection team.
You’ll be responsible for inspecting, tagging, cutting, and preparing woven and finished rolls of fabric ready for finishing or despatch. This is a hands-on, day-shift role in a clean, well-organised production environment with strong emphasis on quality and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities

Inspect woven and finished fabric rolls, recording all faults and measurements accurately using inspection software.

Identify and tag defects, dress minor faults where applicable, and communicate quality concerns promptly.
*
Operate a range of machinery including slitter and bias cutting machines (training provided).
*
Complete inspection records, cutting notes, and attach piece tickets to each inspected roll.
*
Assist with packing, preparing, and loading finished cloth for despatch.
*
Take roll samples and record finish deviations.
*
Follow all safety procedures and use correct PPE and lifting techniques.
Skills & Experience
*
Previous inspection or textile production experience preferred, but training can be provided.
*
Attention to detail and good numeracy for measuring and recording data.
*
Physically fit and comfortable working on your feet in a manufacturing setting.
*
Reliable, team-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Working Hours & Benefits

Day shift only: Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm (some flexibility required)
*
Pay: £13.45 per hour, reviewed after 3-month probation
*
Overtime: Confirmed availability and rates to be discussed at interview
*
