Senior Cardiac Scrub Theatre Practitioner
Location: Central London, SE1
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)
Shifts: Monday–Saturday, 5 days per week; early (07:00–15:00) and late (13:00–21:00) shifts
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum (depending on experience) + shift allowances + generous onboarding bonus

About the Role
As a Senior Cardiac Scrub Theatre Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding patient care during the perioperative phase. You will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, supporting a range of advanced cardiac surgeries and contributing to seamless theatre operations. Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and maintain the sterile field, assisting surgical teams throughout the perioperative process.
* Provide expert scrub support for complex cardiac procedures, including:
* Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
* Minimally invasive surgeries
* Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI)
* Valve replacements
* Heart and lung transplants
* Complex aortic operations
* Lead and coordinate theatre teams to ensure efficient workflow and exceptional patient outcomes.
* Maintain accurate documentation of perioperative care, adhering to strict patient safety protocols.
* Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing theatre environment.
About You
We’re looking for a dedicated and skilled professional with a passion for cardiac care and a commitment to excellence. To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
* Current HCPC or NMC registration (essential).
* Significant experience as a scrub practitioner in operating theatres, with a strong focus on cardiac procedures.
* Desirable: Experience in other specialties such as ENT, orthopaedics, or urology (not essential but advantageous).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead, mentor, and collaborate effectively with theatre teams.
* A proactive and adaptable approach, thriving in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
* Commitment to patient safety and delivering high-quality care.
