An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and experienced Therapeutic Education Practitioner (TEP) to work with children and young people out in the community across the East London area. This is a community-based role and not based in a classroom, offering a unique chance to deliver personalised support in real-life environments. The position is delivered through a long-term agency contract, with the potential for a permanent offer.
You will be joining a specialist provision that is dedicated to achieving the best educational, emotional and social outcomes for all pupils. Your work will directly support students in achieving their Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) targets while building confidence, resilience, and self-awareness.

About the Role:
As a Therapeutic Education Practitioner, you will deliver holistic, community-based educational interventions tailored to the individual needs of pupils. You’ll work closely with teachers and professionals to co-plan and deliver sessions that support academic progress, behaviour development, and emotional resilience—all outside of a traditional classroom environment.
You will be expected to:
Deliver educational support in community settings aligned with EHCP and care plan targets.
Plan and implement creative learning opportunities, using local resources such as museums, libraries, parks, and historical sites.
Conduct and update comprehensive risk assessments for each pupil.
Maintain regular contact with families regarding attendance, behaviour, and academic progress.
Provide supervision and act as the appropriate adult during all pupil activities.
Collaborate on reward systems to foster positive behaviour and self-esteem.
Liaise with social care and therapeutic professionals as needed.
Prepare reports for parents, carers, and local authorities.
Ensure safeguarding procedures and documentation are followed diligently.The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Education and Qualifications:
Level 2 or above in Numeracy and Literacy (or equivalent).
Relevant training or qualifications in Education, Youth Work, or Social Work (Desirable).
Willingness to complete a Teaching Assistant/Learning Support qualification if not already held (Desirable).Knowledge and Experience:
Minimum 1 year working with high-risk or complex pupils.
Experience leading behaviour management strategies.
Solid understanding of the National Curriculum and SEMH needs.
Knowledge of the role cultural identity plays in youth development.

Strong communication, discretion, and confidentiality in line with Data Protection.
Ability to model positive conduct and support small groups effectively.
Skilled in observing both academic and emotional development (Desirable).Other:
