Job Description

The Tool Design Engineer will assist in the design and development of reliable, accurate and cost-effective Jigs, Fixtures, Tool and Rigs used in the manufacture of current and new products. This includes the design of press tools, welding fixtures, machine work holding fixtures and pressure test rigs. Analysing and understanding the costings of existing products to identify areas for possible improvement and costs reduction. Tool Design Engineer Pay, Hours and Benefits * £52,000 - £55,000 * Mon - Thurs 7:30am to 4:15pm, 12:30pm finish on Friday’s, with some flexibility on start and finish times * 32 days holiday’s including bank holidays * Production Bonus Scheme * Above average company pension contribution * On site Gym * Secured Parking This Position is Commutable From: Accrington, Blackburn, Burnley, Chorley, Bury, Rochdale Tool Design Engineer Candidate Requirements * Creo experience is preferred, but other 3D design proficiency will be considered. * Geometrical tolerances. * Ability to identify when design calculations are required. * Preparing technical specifications and presenting proposals. * Materials and limitations of the material used in construction. * Problem solving and implementation of successful countermeasures. * Machinery directive/machine building knowledge. * CE marking & requirement knowledge. * Design risk assessment capability. Tool Design Engineer Key Responsibilities * The Tool Design Engineer will ensure jigs, tools, test rigs and fixtures are accurate and conform to the required design codes. (The lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations and pressure equipment regulations). * Take responsibility for a new jigs, tools, test rigs and fixtures implementation from concept design through to production release in all working areas, assembly, welding, machine shop, press shop, foundry etc. * Produce detailed drawings of jigs, tools, test rigs and fixtures, and publish to company intranet. * Develop knowledge of the company’s products and their current work holding methods. * Build good working relationships with other departments within the company. * Innovate jigs, tools, test rigs and fixtures with the use of new work holding technologies when and where appropriate. * Expedite the use of preliminary issue design data (DFMPR) in the design and manufacture of jigs and tools.
