Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Toolmaker Engineering Technician to specialise in precision toolmaking to extremely tight tolerances. This role is essential for supporting production agility, ensuring equipment reliability, and upholding site safety standards.
Key Responsibilities of a Toolmaker Engineering Technician
* Manufacture and refurbish high-precision, low-tolerance tooling using both manual and CNC equipment.
* Collaborate with design teams to develop new tooling solutions based on engineering drawings.
* Provide creative and timely solutions to manufacturing challenges and propose innovations to improve processes.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment through proactive housekeeping and adherence to safety protocols.
* Support the maintenance team with various activities as requested.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational efficiency.
* Assist in developing colleagues, including mentoring apprentices and sharing technical expertise.
Key Skills of a Toolmaker Engineering Technician
* Expertise in both Manual and CNC milling and turning (experience with specified proprietary machines is highly desirable).
* Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work to extremely tight tolerances.
* Strong problem-solving capabilities, effective decision-making, and an innovative mindset.
* Excellent task prioritisation and time management skills.
* Clear communication and the ability to collaborate across functions.
* Apprentice-trained engineering qualification or equivalent technical certification.
