Toolmaker – Mould & Press Tools Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire Salary: Circa £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience) Benefits: 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Company pension scheme Healthcare and medical cover Annual bonus scheme PPE and uniform provided Supportive working culture Long-term job security Independent role in a fully equipped toolroom Company Overview: A well-established precision engineering company based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, specialising in high-precision tooling solutions for a diverse range of industries. Known for technical quality and a loyal customer base, the company focuses on tooling repairs and modifications, not new tool manufacture. The workshop is a well-equipped environment with traditional machinery and a strong focus on quality craftsmanship. Role Overview: This is a standalone position within the toolroom, focusing on the repair and modification of existing tooling including milling, sparking (EDM), grinding, and turning. CNC experience is not required. This role would suit a time-served Toolmaker or Manual Machinist with strong hand-finishing skills, who enjoys working independently and solving practical problems. Key Responsibilities: Carry out repairs and modifications to mould and press tools Perform milling, turning, grinding, and spark erosion tasks using manual machines Interpret engineering drawings to assess repair requirements Fitting and Assembly work Work independently in a traditional toolroom environment Ensure high standards of accuracy, safety, and quality Maintain tooling records and support continuous improvement when applicable Skills & Experience Required: Background in toolmaking or precision machining Skilled in manual milling, turning, grinding, and spark erosion Experience with tool repair/modification rather than new builds Able to read and interpret technical engineering drawings Self-motivated and comfortable working alone Strong attention to detail and quality Education / Qualifications: Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Toolmaking/Mechanical Engineering preferred Hours: 39 hours per week Monday–Thursday: 08:00–17:00 (30-minute unpaid lunch, two paid 10-minute breaks) Friday: 08:00–13:00 (one paid 10-minute break) Bolt-On Personnel and our clients are equal opportunity employers who seek to recruit and appoint the best available person for a job regardless of marital/civil partnership status, sex, age, religion, belief, race, nationality and ethnic or national origin, colour, sexual orientation or disability.  Bolt-On Personnel and our clients apply all relevant Data Protection laws when processing your Personal Data.   If you choose to apply to this opportunity and share your CV or other personal information with Bolt-On Personnel, these details will be held by us in accordance with our privacy policy used by our recruitment team to contact you regarding this or other relevant opportunities at Bolt-On Personnel
