Job Description
A client within the Public Sector based in North East Lincolnshire is currently recruiting for a Town Planner to join their Planning team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a Town Planning environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to support the planning service delivered by the the Councils, ensuring it delivers a first-class service to customers and contributes to sustainable development and growth in the area. This will include managing a caseload of complex planning applications, providing professional advice, and supporting service improvement projects.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Representing the Council at public hearings and planning appeal inquiries as an expert planning witness.
Manage a caseload of complex planning applications, ensuring timely and high-quality decisions.
Prepare accurate and concise reports for planning committee and appeal statements.
Provide professional development management advice to applicants, developers, and stakeholders.
Represent the Council as an expert planning witness at appeals and public hearings.
Lead on pre-application discussions for major and sensitive development proposals.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A degree in Town Planning (or working towards) and Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) (or working towards).
• At least 3 years’ experience working within a Town Planning environment, including appeals and major applications.
• Proven ability to prepare professional reports and recommendations for committee.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Ability to negotiate effectively with developers to secure planning gains.
• Adaptability and flexibility to meet service needs, including hybrid working arrangements.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £32 per hour PAYE).
