Job Description

Traffic & Customs Supervisor The Opportunity We're looking for a dedicated and experienced Traffic & Customs Supervisor to join our team on a full-time, three-year contract. In this role, you will lead a small team to manage daily import and export tasks. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of parts and products across international borders, strictly adhering to all customs regulations. You will play a key role in managing risks and controls to ensure we meet all customs requirements. What You'll Do As the Traffic & Customs Supervisor, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Process Management: Develop and maintain process documentation and manage all customs and company record-keeping. Compliance: Ensure our duty management systems meet HMRC requirements and that all submissions are accurate. You will also oversee the daily compliance activities of our brokers and freight forwarders. Coordination: Collaborate with freight companies, production departments, and customers to ensure timely deliveries. Financial Oversight: Validate and oversee freight invoicing and payments. Operational Support: Work with our shipping teams to help manage and achieve quality and velocity targets, ensuring we have the necessary shipping capacity and capability to meet demand. Problem-Solving: Act as the main point of contact for any customs-related issues or problems, reacting quickly to resolve delays or other issues. New Projects: You'll be involved in new product introduction (NPI) projects, where shipping volumes are anticipated to be significantly higher than in previous years. This will involve developing new processes within the role. About the Team You will be joining a dynamic team of around 35 people, working across day and afternoon shifts. While the team's main focus is the shipping of prime products, we also handle the management of material rejects back to suppliers and any quality defects. On the importation side, we manage the smooth passage of goods into the facility, handling commercial documents and customs issues to enable manufacturing. This year is set to be particularly busy with a lot of new product lines, so your role in developing new processes will be crucial. Desirable skills include: Customs & Transportation Knowledge: A background in general import and export issues and an understanding of how transportation and customs regulations link together. Freight Invoicing: The ability to read and understand freight invoices. System Experience: Experience with customs systems like Ricardo or data visualisation tools such as Power BI would be a great advantage. Project Management: Some experience in managing and delivering small improvement projects would be highly beneficial for the team.To apply for this exciting opportunity, please call Danielle on (phone number removed) or use the apply button below.
