Our client, a prominent authority in the highways sector, is currently seeking a Traffic Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This is focusing on delivering a range of route and area-based schemes aimed at enhancing walking and cycling infrastructure within the borough.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting internal senior project managers and engineers on the development of feasibility reports/studies and concept designs for various schemes.
Assisting and supporting the team with public consultation and community engagement activities, including drafting consultation material.
Undertaking site surveys, traffic surveys and various other data collection and site investigation works as required.
Liaising and coordinating with other teams within the Highway service and across the Council to ensure projects align with stakeholders' needs and priorities.
Preparing briefings and reports for a range of audiences, including technical reports for Transport for London, Council Scheme approval reports, and Councillor briefings.
Preparing outline construction cost estimates for schemes.
Assisting senior project managers in developing and maintaining project programmes.
Assisting senior project managers with the financial control and governance of projects.
Assisting in the preparation of Traffic Management Orders and Statutory Notices associated with projects.
Working closely with the Highways Service Construction Team to progress projects through detailed design and construction.
Job Requirements:
Proficiency in traffic engineering and design, particularly with AutoCAD.
Experience supporting the development of feasibility reports and concept designs.
Strong skills in public consultation and community engagement.
Experience in conducting site and traffic surveys.
Excellent report writing and presentation skills for a variety of audiences.
Ability to prepare construction cost estimates.
Understanding of project financial control and governance.
Knowledge of preparing Traffic Management Orders and Statutory Notices.
