Job Description
A client of ours in the Basildon area are recruiting a Trainee Customs Clerk to join their team. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm and paying up to £24,000 per annum depending on experience.
Key Duties include but are not limited to:
Completing day to day Customs Clearing and entries for all air, sea and road freight shipments, including EADs & T1s. Create, manage and maintain the correct documentation as each case progresses.
Maintain Data input accuracy.
Deal with customer enquiries.
Telephone and/or written communication with external organisations e.g. HMRC, Port Authorities, Shipping Lines, Hauliers etc.
Obtain necessary Bill of Ladings and correct Tariff Headings and obtain payments from customers.
Calculating Duty / VAT cost for each consignment
Processing Import/Export declarations
Dealing with general enquiries from a range of external sources
Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and customs procedures
Work with different departments in multiple locations to prepare a complete list of shipments.
Skills and Experience required to be considered for this Trainee Customs Clerk position:
1+ year office experience
Excellent Attention to detail is essential
GCSE Level 5 (C) and above is required
Previous logistics distribution and supply chain experience would be an advantage but not essential
Driver with own vehicle is preferred due to office location
