Role: Transport Manager (Bulk)
Salary: £50,000 + 9% Bonus
Location: Middlesbrough
The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport Manager to take the lead in managing and developing a high-performing team within a busy bulk logistics operation. As a Transport Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of bulk products across your region, while driving continuous improvement in performance, cost control, and customer service. This role is ideal for a Transport Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about safety, leadership, and operational excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing
Managing a supportive team of around 20–30 drivers, ensuring all delivery operations run safely, efficiently, and in line with key service indicators.
Overseeing all areas of transport operations, including scheduling, compliance, fleet maintenance, and driver performance.
Keeping a close eye on transport costs and budgets, spotting opportunities to improve efficiency and implementing practical solutions that make a real difference.
Working closely with production, supply chain, planning, and workshop teams to make sure everything runs smoothly and on time.
Making sure all legal and safety requirements are met, including operator’s licence obligations, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
Encouraging driver engagement and wellbeing through positive leadership, helping to build a culture of accountability and teamwork.
Holding regular performance reviews and offering training and coaching to help team members grow and succeed.
Taking care of key administrative tasks such as absence tracking, shift scheduling, and maintaining accurate operational records.
What We Expect From You
Experience in transport or logistics management, ideally within a large-scale or multi-site operation.
Strong leadership and people-management skills, with a natural ability to motivate, support, and develop a team.
A solid understanding of transport legislation, compliance, and safety procedures.
Confidence with budgets and performance data, with the ability to spot areas for improvement and take action.
Great communication and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and adaptable attitude.
Comfortable using IT systems, ideally SAP or similar transport software.
CPC qualification (essential, or willingness to obtain).
ADR licence (an advantage) and NEBOSH certificate (desirable).Benefits
